MONTREAL, June 26, 2026 \/CNW\/ – As July 1st approaches, several partners from the community, institutional, and private sectors are joining forces to support households who find themselves without housing or are still looking for a new home. Coordinated by the Housing Search Assistance Service (SARL) of the Montreal Municipal Housing Office (OMHM), this mobilization pools a wide range of resources to support citizens according to their situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaboration is based on two complementary components: helping households find permanent housing and, when all other solutions have been exhausted, offering temporary emergency housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To facilitate access to permanent housing, the SARL works with numerous partners from the community and private sectors. Landlords represented by CORPIQ collaborate with the partners’ committee by publicizing available units. This year, Les R\u00e9sidences Soleil \u2013 Famille Savoie joins the list of options by providing seniors with housing adapted to their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the SARL provides households with a housing search tool on the OMHM website, listing available units, and assists residents in their search. This support can include identifying suitable housing options, referring them to appropriate resources, and registering them on waiting lists for social, community, or non-profit housing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When relocation efforts do not immediately lead to a permanent solution, a second phase is implemented to ensure that no household is left without a home. Thanks to the collaboration of several partners, the OMHM has access to hotel rooms and accommodations with community organizations to provide temporary housing until a permanent solution is found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJuly 1st is a collective effort. Every year, partners from the community, institutional, and private sectors pool their resources to support households experiencing hardship. The SARL plays a central role in coordinating these interventions and helping residents find the solution best suited to their situation. The arrival of R\u00e9sidences Soleil \u2013 Famille Savoie enhances the options available, particularly for seniors, and demonstrates this shared commitment to increasing relocation possibilities,\u201d emphasizes Isabelle P\u00e9pin, Executive Director of the OMHM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRental landlords are an important link in the housing continuum.\u201d \u201cCollaboration between the community, private, and public sectors is essential to providing solutions tailored to different households,\u201d adds Nathalie Mercier, Executive Director of CORPIQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This mobilization illustrates the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders working with Montreal households to offer, as needed, permanent rehousing solutions or safe temporary accommodation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
