« Entre 2 réveillons » : 14 residents from Manoir Granby share their Christmas memories on the radio
The most beautiful stories are often the most inspiring, and the podcast project by Granby’s M105 radio station, Entre deux réveillons (Between Two Holiday Feasts), is definitely one of them! Thanks to Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Granby, a vibrant and welcoming place nestled by Lake Boivin, this intergenerational project has truly come to life in the most delightful way!
Budding Reporters
Raphaël (12 years old) and Béatrice (9 years old), two young locals, met with 14 Soleil residents, paired up in duos to share their childhood memories, family anecdotes, and reflections on their Christmas traditions, on the M105 airwaves.
Clearly well-prepared, the warmth and sincere curiosity in our two young reporters’ voices was palpable as they eagerly listened to these stories from another era, another generation.
Christmases of the past, memories still alive
Laughter, slight hesitations, sparkling eyes it was clear through the simple yet evocative questions that each resident was reliving a slice of their childhood.

- Were you on Santa’s nice list?
- Did you ever meet Santa Claus?
- What were your favorite holiday dishes?
- What did you ask Santa for?
- What Christmas music did you listen to?
- Did you have a favorite ornament for the tree?
- Who decorated the Christmas tree at your house?
- What did you do on Christmas Eve?
- Did you have big holiday parties?
- What were the popular toys in your time?”
Each resident shared lots of stories and memories of traditions from the past, the scents and aromas of festive meals, the wrapped gifts under the tree, and the cherished toys they received. These touching and humorous moments were shared with Raphaël and Béatrice as if they were their own grandchildren. The emotion was visible in their eyes, while the children listened with rare attention. A truly beautiful intergenerational initiative, deeply human, where everyone had something to discover.

Joy and Pride
At the end of the recordings, the participants couldn’t hide their pride. Proud to have overcome their shyness in front of a microphone. Proud to have shared part of their childhood and family traditions. Proud to have taken part in this radio adventure, which clearly brought them great joy!
Some even wished the sessions were longer—before the podcast was even released, hands were already raised saying, “We’re ready for a second round of questions!” One participant even brought a little gift for the children—a chocolate, offered with a big smile to thank them for creating such a special moment.
