A 16th year Canada’s Best Managed Companies

Once again this year, Les Résidences Soleil – Groupe Savoie was recognized for its overall performance and sustained growth. For the 16th year in a row, the company has been awarded the prestigious title of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, in the highest category, Platinum.

The 2019 winners of the Best Managed Companies are from elite roster of Canadian-owned and managed companies. They demonstrate strategy, expertise and commitment to achieving sustainable growth through innovative, world-class business practices. The Groupe Savoie further distinguishes itself as a one of the only privately owned companies whose sole investors and owners are family members.

“Today’s companies need to think about long-term growth, invest in talent and deliberately innovate to succeed. This year’s Best Managed winners show those qualities and take the necessary steps to invest in the future,” said Brigitte Vachon, Partner and Quebec Leader of the Best Managed Companies Program for Quebec. “These companies should be proud of this accomplishment and of their responsibility to set the standards for other Canadian companies.”

The nominations are evaluated by an independent panel to award this pre-eminent mark of business excellence. The winners of Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2019 share a clear strategy and vision to improve performance and continuously invest in the future development of their talent. The winners will be honoured at the annual Best Managed Companies Gala on April 17, 2019 in Toronto.

Mr. Eddy Savoie, founder of Les Résidences Soleil, is very proud to have revolutionized and pioneered a unique concept that offers accommodations and services all under one roof at affordable prices to seniors in Quebec. He is particularly proud of the fact that three generations of his family have the same passion for this business and the same desire to continue his legacy.

Thirty years later, while maintaining steady growth and a constant desire to innovate the way we care for seniors, Les Résidences Soleil – Groupe Savoie stands out as the largest family and privately owned business in this field in Canada.

Last January, Les Résidences Soleil also received for the 16th year in a row the 2019 Consumer Choice Award in the Senior Care Retirement Residence category, Greater Montreal.

The Savoie family wishes to thank all its residents along with their loved ones, as well as its employees and collaborators for their trust and support over the last 30 years, making it the largest and most well-loved family business in Quebec.

A dream come true

They never dreamed this project would grow to such proportions but Eddy and Carmelle Savoie could not be prouder to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Les Residences Soleil, a concept originallly designed for their parents. None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire team and their fundamental desire to provide high-quality housing for seniors at affordable prices. Les Residences Soleil currently operates 14 residences that house more than 7,000 seniors throughout Quebec. The secret behind their success is the devotion and expertise of Mrs and Mr. Savoie’s children and grandchildren, as well as more than 2,000 employees who have dedicated their lives to the well-being of seniors.

A tight-knit family and a place for the next generation

Now at the helm of the family business the children of Mrs and Mr Savoie, Mrs. Nataly Savoie, Mr. Eddy Savoie Junior, Mrs Janet Savoie and Mrs Nadine-Coïne Savoie have greatly contributed to the growth of Groupe Savoie alongside their parents. Each of them has their respective role in the company, but their motto is still the same: teamwork. Living and working alongside each other since childhood, they support each other in all their daily projects. For Groupe Savoie, fusing work and family is not only a winning combination, it is the building block of success for this beloved Quebec institution for over 30 years.

Following in the footsteps of their grandparents, three remarkable women are now putting their heart and soul into the family business. It began at an early age for Mrs. Katarina- Darkise Marcil who would assist her mother in different tasks and spent summers working in various departments to learn everything she could about the business. Today, at the head of a department, she is determined to make a difference. The same can be said of Mrs. Meghan Laberge and Mrs. Kyra Delisle who spent many of their young years and free time between school and homework helping their grandparents. The family is thrilled to see them grow and thrive in this exciting, ever-expanding business, in addition to five great-grandchildren who brighten up the family atmosphere of the company.
