Apartments ready to welcome you now

Some seniors struggle with poverty and vulnerable living conditions, and find themselves without a viable alternative. For some, the search for a new apartment has become a veritable obstacle course. For others, it’s an anxious period, marked by the fear of having to live in a precarious situation, risking homelessness without a suitable home in the short term.

Much more than a simple offer of accommodation, we sincerely hope that this gesture will give you a moment’s respite, a pause to take the time to bounce back and continue your search for a new and permanent home, without haste or stress.

Apartments ready to welcome you now

It is important to know that a senior who wishes to leave a conventional rental housing unit to move into a private seniors’ residence may do so without being required to fulfill the full term of their lease. In accordance with section 1974 of the Civil Code of Québec, it is possible to terminate a current tenancy by sending written notice to the owner. The lease will be terminated two months after the notice is sent, without any fees or penalties.

Article 1974 CcQ – Tribunal Administratif du logement website: “The resiliation takes effect two months after a notice is sent to the lessor when the lease is for 12 months or more or one month after the notice is sent if the lease is for an indeterminate term or a term of less than 12 months. However, the resiliation takes effect before the two-month or one-month period expires if the parties so agree or when the dwelling, having been vacated by the lessee, is re-leased by the lessor during that same period.”

This measure allows seniors to more quickly access a living environment better suited to their needs, with complete peace of mind.
