Les Résidences Soleil and Radio-Canada: a luminous encounter on TV Show “Bonsoir bonsoir!”
On Tuesday, August 20, ICI Radio-Canada Télé’s “Bonsoir bonsoir”, hosted by the flamboyant and entertaining Jean-Philippe Wauthier, aired a special segment spotlighting Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard and its wonderful residents!
For the 2024 Summer Season, actress Élise Guilbault, Jean-Philippe’s long-time loyal collaborator and “friend” of the show Bonsoir bonsoir! set herself an unusual mission: to help Jean-Philippe become a better version of himself, nothing less!
Getting closer to wisdom
As part of the « Élise to the rescue » in the Donner au suivant style – a segment of the show that aims to encourage caring actions through a day of volunteering – that Élise and Jean-Philippe went to the Manoir Brossard, par une belle et chaude journée estivale.
Driven by a desire to prove that he was indeed up to the challenge, the star host chose to delve into the daily lives of seniors in residential care in order to be of service, and at the same time to get closer to wisdom.
For Élise, “meeting the elderly is a subtle approach to wisdom, because they see life through better eyes!”
A golden opportunity for our two Sunny visitors to soak up this legendary wisdom, while allowing them to “give back to the next generation” and ultimately demonstrate beyond any doubt the great generosity of our dear Jean-Philippe.
On the way to Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard!
Throughout the visit, which was much appreciated by all those they had the chance to meet, Élise and Jean-Philippe met with our residents, in these places where they particularly enjoy getting together to chat, have fun and spend quality time together.
Passing through the big and bright panoramic dining room and its extraordinary panoramic view, our cheerful tandem was first able to shake several hands while wishing a happy birthday to Paul, who was all smiles in front of the camera, visibly touched by this gesture as unexpected as it was welcomed.
Giving back while having fun
Afterwards, Élise and Jean-Philippe wandered the corridors of the modern and welcoming Manoir Brossard. After visiting numerous activities common areas, it’s into the bright indoor pétanque hall that the TV show host was able to demonstrate the extent of his talent as a jack-in-the-box! In our opinion, he shouldn’t be expected to give up hosting any time soon…!
Then, from one home to the next, Élise made sure Jean-Philippe could be as helpful as possible, offering and touting his merits in both moving and housekeeping!
Our famous host happily lent himself to the game, under the complicit and mocking look of his TV partner. We got to see him at work, happily vacuuming, washing windows and dusting (all the while improving his image, it should be remembered!).
“As popular as Brad Pitt”
Between anecdotes, advice and a few jokes, Élise had fun playing journalist while her friend busied himself with household chores. When asked what they liked best about the Radio-Canada host of Bonsoir bonsoir! they unanimously replied, “His beautiful blue eyes! According to Élise, “He’s as popular as Brad Pitt!
So, to the inevitable question “At what age do you think we reach wisdom?”, one of the residents we met spontaneously replied, “You could be 50 or 90, it’s all in your head!” An answer that seemed to please the man who candidly confessed to still loving Christmas.
An unforgettable experience
In addition to this shooting at Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard, about twenty of our residents had the unique opportunity to take part in the recording of the show at Radio-Canada’s studios in downtown Montréal.
For most of them, it was a first experience in a TV studio, and it was both very exciting and entertaining. Residents were able to go behind the scenes of production, meet the show’s crew and experience the excitement of a TV shoot!
Thanks to this unique experience, our residents once again felt at the heart of the action while demonstrating that life in Les Résidence Soleil is punctuated by a record number of activities, and where warm human bonds as precious as they are essential enhance it every day.
