Résidences Soleil is elated to commemorate the 100th birthday of Ms. Hélene Dechief
Born in Deloraine, Manitoba on May 14, 1915, Ms. Dechief had the privilege of travelling far and wide during her lifetime. Following the Cold War and after having obtained a Master’s degree at McGill University in the 1950s, she crossed the Atlantic Ocean to take a job at a Canadian embassy in Europe. Enamored of history and genealogy, Ms. Dechief is fascinated by past events and the family history of the people she spends time with. A librarian by profession, she is also passionate about literature and an avid reader. Described as special, compassionate and excessively kind, Hélène Dechief has a heart of gold.
During Residences Soleil Manoir St-Laurent’s monthly celebration, organized to observe the birthdays and wedding anniversaries of the residence’s employees and residents, Ms. Dechief received several gifts to celebrate this momentous occasion. Several members of her family were present to share in the festivities, including her sister, the latter’s spouse, her two nephews, and her niece and her spouse. A celebratory event that served as an inspiration for everyone at the residence!
