La Tablée des Chefs : 1,421 bowls of Solidarity Soup
For a second consecutive year, several Résidences Soleil located in the Greater Montréal area took part in the socially driven workshop La cuisine du cœur n’a pas d’âge! from La Tablée des Chefs.
The concept is simple: prepare a nutritious soup using unsold food items, to be distributed to elementary school students experiencing food insecurity. The workshop also offers participants aged 55 and over a meaningful opportunity to gather around the kitchen island.
Overall: 1,421 servings of Solidarity Soup (nearly 300 liters)
were delivered to the participating local schools.
A human action, a concrete gesture, a social impact
that nourishes the hearts as much as little tummies!
A growing commitment
Launched in 2025 with the participation of Manoir Brossard and Manoir Sainte-Julie, the initiative expanded this year to five Résidences Soleil:
A heartwarming and delicious experience
Once the instructions were given, the participants, divided into teams of 3 to 5 people, began preparing the Solidarity Soup, whose recipes are designed to meet the nutritional needs of people of all ages, from youngsters to seniors.
In addition to the joy of cooking for a good cause, these workshops fostered connections, conversations, the sharing of tips, and the learning of new techniques. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

To wrap up the activity, participants also got to taste the fruits of their labor, along with some side dishes provided by the organization. It was a delicious moment of sharing during which the Chef took the opportunity to discuss nutritional needs and the importance of healthy eating.

Solidarity Soups
Launched in 2022, the Solidarity Soups program helps repurpose unsold food while providing simple, free food assistance to schools. Funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, it offers a concrete and healthy solution to support children in need and reduce food waste.
More than just a one-off cooking workshop, this wonderful and delicious culinary adventure served as a powerful demonstration of intergenerational solidarity for our generous resident volunteers, allowing them to feel useful through an activity they love.
