Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard: tightly knit, an ambitious project becomes a reality!

As the seasons go by, Manoir Brossard cultivates much more than just a place to live: it’s a true community where collective initiatives come to life, weaving a warm and supportive daily life. Last year, at the turn of spring, a unique and creative project was born and continued for most of the year, culminating in the fall with an open-air exhibition that transformed Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard into a veritable tableau vivant. Here’s the story of this momentous occasion.

An open-air exhibition

Last fall, Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard was transformed into a veritable living painting. It all started with a simple idea, but one full of color, warmth and lots of ambition: to wrap the trees lining the residence in multicolored wool. Very quickly, the project came to life under the fairy fingers of several residents, gathering knitted and crocheted pieces, and boundless creativity.

More than 32 trees in front of the residence’s two building phases were adorned with hand-knitted coats, showcasing the talent and commitment of a tightly knit community.

Other creations also found their place, integrated into frameworks made by the carpentry workshop’s resident handymen, beautifully installed inviting passers-by along the bike path to admire the fruit of a collective effort.

Genesis of a grandiose project

Born under the impulse of the recreational animators, this larger-than-life project has become much more than an ephemeral decoration, all thanks to the outstanding participation of the Knitters’ Club and the faithful handymen of Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Brossard Carpentry Workshop.

You can only imagine the excitement that accompanied this project. A special invitation went out to everyone in the residence to collect wool and frames. Donations poured in far beyond expectations, proving that the desire to contribute was alive and kicking. Every knit, every stitch, every piece of wood assembled testified to a shared desire: to bring life to the manor house, to show that we can all work together to create beauty and warmth.

This project allowed everyone to feel useful, to offer a little of their know-how for the collective well-being. And when you look at these 32 trees dressed in bright colors and 11 frames displaying crocheted pieces, it becomes clear that Manoir Brossard is, more than ever, a tightly knit manor!

Wool, Heart, and Sun

Knitting is certainly one of the most popular activities at our residences. As well as being relaxing, knitting stimulates fine motor skills and allows everyone to make new friends.

Over time, many beautiful creations have seen the light of day: scarves, tuques, slippers, mittens, blankets, sweaters, baby bonnets… And very often, these pieces have been donated as part of civic initiatives led by our Soleil knitters.

Through these generous gestures, they have supported social causes, community organizations, hospitals, or relieved the discomfort of mask wearers. They have also raised funds for the Recreation Committee, or led to the creation of large-scale projects. Knitted from the heart, these creations are a testament to our residents’ sincere commitment to their community.

Knitting, bingo, swimming, pétanque, billiards, special outings and more – Les Résidences Soleil is brimming with free activities, open to residents’ loved ones. Because as a family-owned business, we understand better than anyone the importance and value of knitting moments together as a family!
