We open our doors to all seniors during the period of extreme heat

While the extreme heat take place in the province, the Savoie family invites all seniors in Quebec to cool off in our air-conditioned spaces during this period of extreme heat.

We want to do our part to avoid other unfortunate situations. So we open our doors to all senior of the in all our Residences Soleil so that everyone can cool off and cross this heat wave in comfort.

We ask you to introduce yourself and to identify yourself at the reception of our residences between 9:00 and 17:00. An advisor will accompany you to the dining room where the room is fully air conditioned. We also offer you the opportunity to get a meal ticket to share a meal with us. Preventing the effects of oppressive and extreme heat

Since the heatwave alert, Les Residences Soleil have taken the necessary measures to sensitize residents and employees during this period of great heat. Even if we work in an environment where the work is light to medium, in our eyes it is also important to act preventively also with our employees to avoid any discomfort. During heat waves, the health status of seniors can be precarious, so we must take more precautions. Here are some tips according to the directives of the Minister of Health and Social Services:

  • Spend at least 2 hours a day in cool and air-conditioned places;
  • Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day;
  • Take a cool bath daily or refresh your skin with a wet towel several times a day;
  • Limit physical effort;
  • See how your loved ones are doing;
  • Wear light clothing.

Recognize a heat stroke

Here is the signs of heat stroke:

  • Dizziness and vertigo;
  • General discomfort.

If you feel any of these symptoms, tell a relative or contact Info-Santé at 8-1-1.

In case of:

  • Lack of response to stimuli;
  • Loss og balance;
  • Loss of consciousness.

Any follow-up must be done by contacting the emergency department directly.

What’s better than cooling off, a Popsicle in hand! To further counter the effects of this endless heatwave, the Savoie family has decided to offer a surprise break to all employees and residents today, time to cool off with a delicious little ice cold snack. We can say that this little treat made the happiness of more than one!
