The Savoie family offers a free transportation service for the community

With 97% of vaccinations successfully completed in all of our seniors’ residences across Quebec, our local family business wishes to offer its support to seniors in the community. That is why the Savoie family has decided to offer a free and safe transportation service by minibus to seniors who do not have a means of transportation to attend their COVID-19 vaccination appointment*.

Our support for community organisations

We are pleased to support community organisations in order to further contribute to the management of this pandemic. We invite other private businesses with the capacity to do so to lend a hand by responding to our government’s call for assistance. We also invite our media partners to spread this aid option in order to reach as many seniors as possible who do not have a safe means of transportation to receive their long-awaited vaccination.

Our trained drivers

Our drivers are all trained to implement the best infection prevention and control techniques. Our minibus transportation safety protocols are approved by Public Health. As you will notice, they actually exceed the recommendations related to public transportation in the context of a pandemic. The health and safety of our residents, our employees and the people we help are naturally one of our utmost priorities. Our drivers have a pre-established itinerary that allows them to pick up passengers directly from their homes, accompany them to the designated vaccination centre, and drive them safely to their place of residence.

Our safe transport protocol

Before booking your transport
In order to ensure the safety and smooth running of the service, the counsellor will validate that you meet all eligibility criteria during a phone call. She will also reassure you by explaining the details of our safe transportation protocol.

Preparation of the bus
Please note that there will be six seats available per trip, out of a capacity of 24 seats, in order to respect distancing measures. The driver will disinfect the benches and all areas likely to be frequently touched in the bus between each trip. A bottle of hand sanitiser will be available at the bus entrance. The driver will wear a surgical mask and eye protection at all times.

Before boarding the bus (outward)
You will be required to wear a mask. If you do not have a surgical mask, we will provide you with one. Also, you must have your health insurance card in order to benefit from our safe transportation service. The driver will invite you to disinfect your hands and will take your temperature with an infrared thermometer. He will provide you with a pen that you can keep so that you can fill out our questionnaire. You will then be able to choose a seat on the bus according to the 2-metre limit.
We will graciously give you a free reusable bag so that you can safely disposit your personal effects.

During the trip (both ways)
You must keep your mask on throughout the journey and not change seats. During the trip, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask our volunteers. They will be there for you!

Before boarding the bus (return)
After your vaccination appointment, you will need to disinfect your hands and wear your mask before choosing a seat on the bus.

We greatly hope that you will appreciate the help of our dedicated teams.
